My name’s Aidan, and I’m a junior at the University of Notre Dame. This fall, I’m attending DIS Copenhagen, a study abroad university home to about 1200 students each semester. I’m excited to be living in Mønten Kollegium with around 150 DIS students and 100 Danish students – it’s a short ten-minute bike ride from DIS and quite close to my visiting host family as well! I’m taking five classes this semester: Human Health & Disease, Medical Ethics, Neuroscience of Fear, Neuroscience of Religion, and Health Economics & Health Policy in Europe.

I’m looking forward to a fun and engaging experience in Copenhagen! I’m sure it will be filled with lots of ups and downs and crazy unexpected moments, but I’m excited to be immersed in the Danish culture and to learn and grow along the way. Here are a few fun facts about me:
- I’m majoring in neuroscience (the human brain is pretty cool).
- I absolutely LOVE chocolate (excited for pastries in Denmark!!).
- I play tennis and am looking forward to joining a club in Copenhagen.
- I have four pet chickens (Oreo, Henrietta, Foghorn, and Bingo), a cat (Kayley), and a golden retriever (Rodger).
- I really enjoy music – I play the piano and ukulele, and I’m (attempting to) learn to play the guitar.
- My great-great grandmother emigrated from Copenhagen to the U.S. when she was fifteen.
- I’ve been fascinated by Nordic and Scandinavian culture since I was young.
- I’m hoping to pursue a career in medicine and healthcare policy.
- I’m a big fan of rom-coms (hopefully I can find some good Danish ones).
- I enjoy yoga and cycling (I’m sure I’ll get to do plenty of the latter this semester!).

Two of my chickens (Oreo and Foghorn) and my dog Rodger.

I can’t wait to explore Denmark and Europe, take engaging courses, meet new people (both DIS students and local Danes), and live amongst the Danish for a semester. Hope you enjoy following along with my blog!
